Newsletters were mailed home last week.  I have attached it below, in case you didn't get one in the mail or overlooked it.  Throughout the school year, newsletters will come home once a month in Tuesday folders.  

Picture Day - October 9th, 2017

Just wanted to  give all of you parents out there a heads up that picture day will be Monday, October 9th, and retake day will be Wednesday, November 15th.  Paperwork will come home in Tuesday folders closer to that time.

District facilities closed to the public eclipse weekend through Monday, Aug. 21

Due to safety concerns for visitors and students, all district facilities will be closed to the public for the weekend of the solar eclipse and through the day of the eclipse.

Campuses will be closed to the public from 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2017, through 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2017.

The exceptionally large numbers of visitors expected to travel to Salem and Keizer could create severe traffic problems – even gridlock. Local authorities anticipate delays in responding to emergency needs, and will be prioritizing responses based upon available resources. This could mean limited, delayed or possibly no support for urgent circumstances.

Normal rental uses of schools have been cancelled or rescheduled. A very few exceptions for use have been granted to some high schools for required programs on Saturday, August 19, 2017, only. Exceptions were granted through a stringent and early application process, and no additional exceptions to district facility use during the closure period will be granted.

Information for staff about reporting to work on the day of the eclipse can be found on the district intranet, or contact your supervisor.

Las instalaciones del Distrito estarán cerradas durante el fin de semana del eclipse de sol hasta el lunes 21 de agosto.

 Debido a problemas de seguridad para los visitantes y estudiantes, todas las instalaciones del distrito estarán cerradas al público durante el fin de semana del eclipse solar y durante el día del eclipse.

Los planteles estarán cerrados al público a partir de las 5:00 p.m. del viernes 18 de agosto de 2017 hasta las 8:00 de la mañana del martes 22 de agosto de 2017.

El número excepcionalmente grande de visitantes que se espera que viajen a Salem y Keizer podría crear graves problemas de congestión vehicular. Las autoridades locales proveen retrasos en respuesta a las necesidades de emergencia y priorizarán las respuestas con base en los recursos disponibles. Esto podría significar limitación, retraso o hasta la escasez de recursos para afrontar circunstancias urgentes. 

Se han cancelado o reprogramado los usos normales de alquiler de las escuelas. Se concedió el uso de algunas escuelas preparatorias para los programas requeridos el sábado, 19 de agosto de 2017, solamente. Se otorgaron excepciones mediante un proceso de solicitud estricto y temprano, y no se otorgarán excepciones adicionales para el uso de las instalaciones del distrito durante el período de cierre.
