This is Jessica Brenden, Principal of Miller Elementary School with your weekly Miller Message.

Last week, we had a whole bunch of fun at the aptly re-named “Sog A Thon!”  Thanks so much to all of the parents who came out to join in the fun--we noticed that some of you were even jogging with your kids--that’s the spirit!  We don’t have any fundraising amounts to share with you yet, but stay tuned to see if we hit our goal of $8000!

I have some important reminders for you about events this week.  The first is family movie night on Thursday.  The movie is “The Peanuts Movie.”  Doors open to families at 6:15 and the movie starts at 6:30.  Concessions are available for sale.  Bring lawn chairs and blankets to this fun event in the Miller gym.

Also on Thursday night is the  Day of the Child Festival at McKay (that is McKay High School).  The fun starts there at 5:30 in the evening and continues through 8:00 PM.  Again, the day of the Child Festival is Thursday night at McKay.

Also, please don’t forget that there is no school  this Friday, April 29.  It is a day set aside for staff learning and there is no school for students.

Finally, it is important to remember that every day and every minute of school matters!  There are students being taken out early on a regular basis and as a result, they miss the subject that is taught at the end of the day.  If you have appointments that require children to be gone at the end of the school day, see if you can connect with your community so you can go to your appointment but your kids can stay in school and be in the care of a trusted adult for a short period of time.  Thanks for your commitment to your child’s learning!
